Unfortunately all of my adult life it has been smoking that has kept my metabolic speed up enough to allow me to keep my weight stable and at a healthy level. Believe me when I say that for some of us even without increasing our food consumption, which I certainly didn't, quitting smoking will pile the weight on.
I now eat far less than I did as a smoker, having cut out all chocolate, cakes, biscuits, crisps, and any other goodie you can think of, and I am still adding between a 1lb and 2lb a week to this growing bulk of mine.
With a lot of walking, indoor exercise, and cycling being my only mode of transport I have managed this last few weeks to keep the weight level. I can't however at this time manage to actually lose any.
I have come to the conclusion that somewhere along the line I must either, without realising it, be consuming more calories than I think I am, or I am not doing enough daily exercise. So this is why I have now joined MyFitnessPal along with copying my blog posts from there into this Weebly blog. I need to keep watch on, and register, my food and exercise, to see exactly where I am going wrong.
