I've survived a third full week on this strict 8 week blood sugar diet. Actually it's been pretty easy. Once you get used to not eating all the bad carbs and start eating only the good, which only takes about 3 days, it's quite hard to eat more than the allocated calories.
I have no idea if my blood sugar has lowered, because as my diabetes is not bad enough to be on tablets I don't test my blood every day as others are having to do. But going by other people's results I can't see that my blood sugar wouldn't have gone down.
I am looking forward to having my official 6 monthly blood test next month that I have because I am on statins, as I am sure I will then be out of the diabetic range completely.
Last weekend whilst staying with my Daughter I did cheat. Over the course of almost 3 days a couple of times I ate some french bread and I also had some biscuits. The consequences were that I woke up on Monday with a bad bout of morning IBS and have now also had it Tuesday and today. Although this morning it didn't last as long, so perhaps my gut is settling down again now.
It seems that I am losing about 2lbs a week, which isn't as much as some people are losing, but then the less one has to lose the slower the weight is to come off. Considering that I have been struggling for the last 3 years to lose even one pound and then not being able to keep it off, 2lbs a week for me is bloody wonderful.
I have lost 6lbs whilst being on this diet which has brought me up to a total of 16lbs of the 35lbs I needed to lose that I had put on since quitting smoking and being put on statins. Next week should bring me to having lost half of my total goal weight loss. 19lbs to go.
