Couch to 5K - This I have started to do barefoot indoors. I know that running indoors is not the same as pounding the streets but it's better than nothing. Some people, I have read, do their C to 5K on a running machine. I don't have room in my small flat for a running machine so I make a curcuit through my lounge, kitchen and bathroom.
10,000 Steps: For me, as I no longer work, doing 10,000 steps is really hard. When I worked I walked to and fro work and I was also on my feet a great deal of my working day. Now being retired I have to conciously plan walking as many steps a day as I can. Very seldom can I make up to 1000. Apart from going about my normal day of shopping, visiting, dog walk, etc., I try to make up steps by turning a good programme on the television and whilst watching that I do the same circuit as I do for my C to 5K. Usually I manage about 6,000 steps a day.
Bicycling: I ride a trike for all journeys up to about 5miles, but because I don't often go very far without my Daughter or Granddaughters, all of which have a car, I don't get very much cycling in. But even if I don't have anywhere in particular to go I do try on nice days to get out for a short ride if possible.
Wii fit: I love the wii fit as it's like having my own gym in my living room, but for a long time I forgot about using it. I have just recently got it out of mothballs, cleaned up the yucky battery areas, put new batteries in and started using it again.
