I do know what I should concentrate on to reduce my extra bulk, but that's easier said than done. I need to drink a lot more water. I have discovered that I do lose weight faster if I can drink at least 3 pints of water a day. I would like to make that 4 pints, but unfortunately my first thought has always been to make a cup of tea the moment I want a drink.
I also need to push myself up to the 10,000 steps a day. Up until now I have barely managed to make the 5,000 and on a good day 6,000. Now that it's winter I am not as active as I was in the summer, and even the amount of activity I did during the summer months wasn't really enough.
Food is not my problem. I find it very easy to stay on, or slightly below, my allocated 1200 calories on a normal day. My biggest problem is when I visit my Daughter, which I do twice a week, as she always has crisps, biscuits, cakes and such in her cupboards and because they are in front of me it's always a case of "Oh! one wont hurt me just for today". Unfortunately it doesn't always remain at one treat. So this is another area that I must watch out for and use a little bit of will power.
One more thing that I must change. This is weighing myself every day. Weight fluctuates not only on a daily basis but also an hourly basis, and it's very disheartening when one day one sees that they have lost a pound only to see the next day they are a pound and a half heavier. So from now on, it's a weigh day on a Friday only. Other than that the scales are going to be ignored.
So for the start of this new year I'm going to attempt to.....
1) Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
2) Definitely walk 10,000 steps or 4 miles a day.
3) No treats when visiting my Daughter.
4) Weigh in only once a week.
